UFC 141: Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem Odds

December 1, 2011

Current UFC 141 Betting Odds -On Friday, December 30, 2011, UFC 141 will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event, former UFC Heavyweight champion and WWE superstar Brock Lesnar will square off against former Strikeforce Heavyweight and K-1 World Grand Prix champion Alistair Overeem in a bout to determine the next challenger for Junior dos Santos’ Heavyweight title. Lesnar is by far the Heavyweight division’s most dominant wrestler, but Overeem is a truly world class striker with a very underrated grappling game of his own. Lesnar is notoriously not fond of taking punches, and has never faced anyone with Overeem’s punching power or technique, but his sheer physical strength and wrestling prowess make standing with him a difficult proposition, and he proved against Shane Carwin that while he might not handle punches well, he is durable and will fight through a lot of adversity. This has all the makings of a landmark Heavyweight showdown, and with a title shot on the line this should be a very explosive bout.

In the semi-main event, Nate Diaz will challenge surging WEC alum Donald Cerrone in what should be an awesome Lightweight matchup. These are two of the most prolific submission grapplers in the Lightweight division, and it will be interesting to see how Cerrone’s superior wrestling and athleticism match up against Diaz’s unorthodox but effective striking. On the ground, either of these guys could finish this fight, so this is a great fight as well. Rounding out the card are two big Welterweight bouts pitting Jon Fitch against Johnny Hendricks and Diego Sanchez against Jake Ellenberger, along with a 145 pound showdown between Manny Gamburyan and Diego Nunes.

UFC 139: Dan Henderson vs. Mauricio Rua Odds

October 31, 2011

Current UFC 139 Betting Odds - On November 19, 2011, UFC 139 will air live from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. Headlining the event will be Dan “Hollywood” Henderson’s return to the UFC, where he will take on former Light Heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.  Both of these guys have devastating punching power, but Shogun is the more technical and complete striker while Henderson also brings dominant wrestling and a great ground game to the table.  One interesting question is how this fight will play out in the clinch. Henderson’s Greco Roman background makes him a master at using the clinch to control his opponents, wear them down, and set up trip takedowns, but Shogun has a whole highlight reel of knockouts from the Muay Thai clinch.  Whichever guy can use that position to assert their game plan will have the upper hand here, so this should be a very competitive and entertaining main event.

UFC 135: Jon Jones vs. Rampage Jackson Odds

September 12, 2011

Current UFC 135 Betting Odds – On Saturday, September 24, 2011, UFC 135 will air live from the Pepsi Center in the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado. In the main event, former Light Heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will look to regain his title as he faces off with current champion Jon “Bones” Jones. Rampage is an extremely talented veteran with a wide variety of tools in his belt, but Jones has made everyone he has fought look like an amateur with his freakish reach, amazing physical strength, and well-rounded and technical skill set. If Jackson wants to get back the belt he once wore, he is going to have to face possibly the toughest challenge of his career, fighting a younger, larger, stronger guy with a very similar skill set to his own.
