Predictions for UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva

December 29, 2009

For the Main Event we have our Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva prediction page.

Junior Dos Santos vs. Gilbert Yvel

Pats Prediction

  • A heavyweight Showdown between heavy handed Brazilain Junior Dos Santos against Dutch Striker Gilbert Yvel.  The UFC has given Yvel a gift and signed him to fight.  Its hard to respect a fighter that has had so many tasteful incidents throughout his career.  Hopefully he has turned a new leaf and left that in the past.  He faces another hard hitting striker in Dos Santos.  While both can stand and strike, Dos Santos is the better overall fighter.  Junior will overwhelm Yvel in all areas and will eventually finish the fight.  Dos Santos via second round T/KO.

  – Dos Santos vs. Yvel Odds

Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout

Pats Prediction

  • Here we have lightweight battle between jiu jitsu ace Joe Lauzon and a heavy handed Sam Stout.  This is not a good match up for Stout.  He likes fights where his opponents stand and trade shots throughout most of the fight.  Lauzon is a more technical fighter with top notch grappling and submissions.  I see Lauzon exchanging shots early with Stout then looking for his opportunity to take it to the mat.  Joe Lauzon via first round armbar.

  – Lauzon vs. Stout Odds

Dustin Hazelett vs. Paul Daley

Pats Prediction

  • Here we have Grappler versus Striker.  Hazelett has some slick submissions in his arsenal with 9 of his 12 wins by subs.  Daley has taken 17 of his 22 wins by T/KO.  Basically we know what each fighter needs to do in this fight.  Hazelett needs to stay away from a slug-fest and Hazelett wants to keep this fight standing.  I’m giving the edge to the grappler.  Hazelett may struggle some in the first round, but will eventually get this fight down.  Dustin “McLovin” Hazelett via second round armbar.

  – Hazelett vs. Daley Odds

Duane Ludwig vs. Jim Miller

Pats Prediction

  • Stylistically this is a similar matchup to Hazelett vs. Daley.  Duane Ludwig being a heavy handed striker.  Miller a solid grappler with submissions and wrestling.  If Ludwig can catch Miller with a solid punch he can no doubt win this fight.  I think Miller is to smart and will use his wrestling and exploit Ludwig’s terrible ground game.  Jim Miller via second round rear naked choke.

  – Ludwig vs. Miller Odds

UFC 108 QUICK PICKS

Sportsbook.com Odds

  • Martin Kampmann over Jacob Volkmann by decision.

  • Cole Miller over Dan Lauzon by decision.

  • Vladimir Matyushenko over Steve Cantwell by submission.

  • Mark Munoz over Ryan Jensen by T/KO.

  • Mike Pyle over Jake Ellenberger by submission.

  • Rafaello Oliveira over John Gunderson by decision.

UFC 109: Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman Odds

December 28, 2009

UPDATED: February 6th – I just updated the odds to reflect the current UFC 109 odds for Relentless.

Live on Saturday, February 6, 2010 The Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada will host UFC 109.  The Main Event pits two UFC Hall of Fame Legends in Randy “The Natural” Couture (17-10) squaring off with Mark “The Hammer” Coleman (16-9).  Both fighters may no longer be at the highest level, but this is sure to be a great fight for all MMA fans to enjoy.  The two were scheduled to do battle at UFC 17 but due to injuries it never occurred.  Now some 12 years later they will have the chance to lay it all out.  Another great match-up sees Nate Marquardt (29-8-2) who will need to take out the crafty Chael Sonnen (24-10-1) if he is to reach his goal and get another crack at the Middleweight title.
