On Saturday December 27, 2008 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada.  We will be treated to the best UFC fight card of 2008, rightfully titled ”The Ultimate 2008″. 

There will be two UFC titles up for grabs as The Ultimate Fighter 8 coaches Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira (31-4-1) defends his Interim Heavyweight belt against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir (11-3).  Also Forrest Griffin (16-4) will have his first title defense against hard hitting (just ask Chuck Liddell), undefeated ”Sugar” Rashad Evans (17-0-1).  Then we will see a toe to toe battle in the third installment of Wnderlei ”The Axe Murderer” Silva (32-8-1) against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (28-7).  Silva holds two TKO victories over Rampage both from Pride. Visit our predictions page or our UFC 92 Info page to help with your betting decisions.

Odds are now available at 5Dimes.com for the January show down at Affliction’s sophomore event “Day of Reckoning”.  Fedor is opening up as a (-475) favorite while Arlovski is at (+325) dog. For you Pit Bull fans this may be a good time to get your bet in, because the gap should tighten up as we get closer to the fight date. 5Dimes.com was the first to open up the odds for this match up. I heard  Arlovski  started out even higher and was getting alot of activity so they dropped it to (+325).  Sportsbook.com now has the odds for this fight at Emelianenko -400 / +300 Arlovski.

I really see Arlovski giving Fedor a tough fight, which is why I believe the odds will be closer come January. Arlovski has plenty of power to put Fedor away, but the question is which Arlovski will show up come fight night? All MMA fans will be able to enjoy a great fight between these two warriors along with a very competitve fight card.

Live on Saturday January 17, 2009 at the O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Rich “Ace” Franklin (24-3) will face Dan “Hollywood” Henderson (23-7) or as I like to call him “Decision Dan”.

Franklin besides getting two savage beat downs by Anderson Silva has been extremely impressive in the Octagon. His last loss other than to Silva came back in 2003 against Lyoto Machida. He is extremely well rounded and tough as nails.

Dan is going to give Franklin all he can handle.  He has lost two of his last three fights, but looked very strong against Rousimar Palhares at UFC 88 scoring a unanimous decision victory.  Hendo is always a dangerous opponent and loves to stand and bang.  Expect to see fireworks when these two clash and this fight will be a toss to who will be victorious.

The winner of this fight will serve as the next coach on TUF 9 and will then fight Michael Bisping after the show is complete.

Dont Forget UFC 93 is in Ireland, so the fights will begin on Saturday 17 at 3:00 p.m. E.T.  So make sure you get your bets in on time.

More UFC 94 Main Event Talk

In their last meeting back in 2006, St. Pierre won a very, very close decision that many people thought Penn won.  A fight that allowed the winner to fight Matt Hughes for a title shot that St. Pierre ended up taking home.  BJ then tried the waters in the lightweight division winning the belt which he currently has.

This time around BJ is looking for revenge and a chance to make UFC history by holding two titles in two different weight classes if he is victorious.  Also on the card we have to un beaten talented fighters Lyoto Machida (13-0) against Thiago Silva (13-0) which hopefully Thiago can make Machida actually fight and not strike and run like his last match with Tito Ortiz.  Although it is very effective it makes for a boring fight. Seeing one fighter must go home a loser we should be rewarded with a very competitive fight.

Live on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.  Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko (28-1) will square off with the “Pit Bull” Andrei Arlovski. Fedor will put on the line his WAMMA heavyweight title on Affliction’s second showing “Day of Reckoning”.

It was actually a good thing this event was postponed, because we now get a better heavywieght match up between Arlovski and Emelianenko along with the rest of the fight card. Fedor is coming off a huge win after destroying Tim Sylvia in under a minute at Affliction “Banned”.  While Arlovski who also competed in “Banned” put away Ben Rothwell via second round KO. Arlovski has competed since that match where he KO’d Roy Nelson in October under EliteXC. Expect to see a very determined Pit Bull looking to make the best of his chance to take out Fedor and attempt to show the world that Fedor is human.
