Elite XC: Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock Prediction

September 29, 2008

Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock

The ill-chosen main event of the evening sees Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson (3-0), internet superstar, square off with UFC legend Ken Shamrock (26-13-2) in a not very highly anticipated freakshow bout.  Sportsbook has the odds at -325 Kimbo / +250 Shamrock.

If you don’t know who Kimbo Slice is, chances are you are not reading this report, because you have never heard of the internet. The mean-mugging Youtube star, who looks like Don King if you flipped his facial hair and the hair on his head, made an extremely lucrative career for himself, first by destroying nobodies in backyards throughout Miami, and then by destroying nobodies on Elite XC televised programming. Kimbo’s likeness is pretty much the only thing keeping Elite XC’s ratings afloat, and so they have been scrambling madly to find opponents famous enough to generate huge interest but bad enough at fighting so that they will actually lose to someone as awful as Kimbo Slice.

Enter Ken Shamrock, a man who fits the bill so perfectly it’s like he descended from heaven for just that purpose. Shamrock made a name himself by being a top competitor in the original UFC tournaments, and then by being a superstar performer in the WWF, and then by flying into steroids-induced rages and babbling like an idiot on national television. As if that wasn’t enough to make Gary Shaw’s mouth water, since beating Kimo Leopoldo in 2004, Shamrock has been knocked out in the first round five times in his last five fights, and by such world-renowned strikers as “Buzz” Berry and Kazushi Sakuraba. At this point, a light ocean breeze would probably be enough to put Shamrock in a coma, and since Kimbo does hit very slightly harder than a light ocean breeze, the outcome of this fight is ridiculously predictable.

Let’s face it, anyone who gets knocked out by a broken down version of Kazushi Sakuraba is never going to win a fight again. Kimbo by knockout within 2 minutes.

Elite XC: “Heat” Fight Predictions

September 29, 2008

For the main event we have a special Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock prediction

Andrei Arlovski vs. Roy Nelson

In his last fight, Andrei Arlovski (14-5) proved that former IFL standout Ben Rothwell was not quite ready for prime time in spectacular fashion. Now, another IFL veteran in the form of Roy “Big Country” Nelson (13-2) will attempt to prove that he has what it takes to conquer the top heavyweights in the world, starting with a rejuvenated “Pitbull”.

Pats Prediction:  More likely, however, is that Arlovski’s years of experience and superior speed and manueverability enable him to pick off Nelson with powerful shots en route to a round 3 stoppage.   -    Arlovski vs. Nelson odds

Murilo Rua vs. Benji Radach

Benji “Razor” Radach (17-4), coming off a nine month layoff, jumps headfirst back into competition, squaring off with the always-dangrous Murilo “Ninja” Rua (16-8-1). There is no question how this fight will be fought, as both men are accomplished strikers who will be looking to score the knockout from the opening bell.

Pats Prediction:  In the end, I think Ninja’s years of losing to top competition will finally pay dividends in the form of a second round KO.      Rua vs. Radach odds

Jake Shields vs. Paul Daley

Jake Shields (21-4-1) and Englishman Paul “Semtex” Daley (18-6-2) are set to face off in a classic grappler vs. striker showdown, a formula that might be intriguing were it not for the titanic gap in skill between the two fighters.

Pats Prediction:  If he took down and submitted a fighter like Nick Thompson so easily, poor Paul Daley does not stand a chance. Shields by submission in round 1.   -   Shields vs Daley odds

Gina Carano vs. Kelly Kobald

The biggest question surrounding Gina Carano’s (6-0) return to action is not whether or not she will win, it is whether or not she will have to forfeit part of her winning purse for failure to make weight yet again. Carano, the face of women’s MMA, is light years beyond her competition. Unfortunately, the gap in skill is only matched by the gap on the scales on weigh-in day.

Pats Prediction:  Carano is simply on another level from the other women in the fight game, and will no doubt prove it with a bloody TKO in the second round. Let’s just hope that this time, she gets to keep her entire purse.     -    Carano vs Kobald odds

EliteXC: “Heat” Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock odds

September 24, 2008

Live on Saturday October 4, at The Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Fl. Televised live on CBS at 9:00 p.m. E.T. Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson (3-0) will do work against Ken Shamrock (26-13-2). The two have been talking trash to get this fight hyped up, since that’s all Shamrock is going be able to do. Shamrock is claiming to break off some limbs in the fight, while Kimbo has relatively been quiet. Shamrock needs to get this fight down early and test Kimbo’s ground game. Shamrock has shown he cant take a punch like he once could earlier in his career, just ask Robert Berry who KO’d Shamrock earlier this year.

More odds will be posted as we get closer to the fight, so check back.
