Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao fight back on

According to ESPN.com the Oscar De La Hoya (39-5) and Manny Pacquiao (47-3-2) fight looks to be back on track. After negotiations between Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao’s camp were not able to settle the money split between the two. It looks as they have possible met a settlement they both agree on. The first negotiation was a 70/30 split in favor of Oscar and rightfully so, because without De La Hoya there would be nowhere near as much money in the pot to split. This would be by far the biggest fight of the year. They did agree previously on a few of Pacquiao’s demands, he got his way on the glove weight (8 ounces) and also a 147 pound weight limit for the fight. The revenue on this Mega fight is expected to be over $100 Million. Pacquiao was upset about the proposed 70/30 split even-though it would take him at-least 5 fights to earn what he would make against Oscar.
This fight has not been officially announced. Oscar De La Hoya is set to make an announcement Thursday, August 28, on who will be his final opponent come this December.
Nikolay Valuev vs. John Ruiz Rematch Odds

On Saturday August 30, Nikolay Valuev is set to fight John Ruiz for the vacant WBA heavyweight title. The belt was taking away from the WBA champion Ruslan Chagaev, after having to pull out of a title defense for a second time due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.
So now Nikolay Valuev the WBA’s top-ranked fighter will take on the #2 fighter John Ruiz for the WBA belt. These two last met in Berlin back in December 2005, with Valuev the 7 foot giant taking a tough controversial 12 round majority victory. Look for this to be another exciting and close fight between the giant and Ruiz.

Kimbo set to face Ken Shamrock

According to Sherdog.com Kimbo slice (3-0) next opponent will be ‘The Worlds Most Dangerous Man” Ken Shamrock (26-13-2). In the main event of EliteXC on CBS, October 4th in Sunrise, Florida.
Although Shamrock has lost his last five fights, this for sure will be Kimbo’s toughest fight to date. For MMA fans wanting to see Kimbo fight some actual competition. Even though he is past his prime Ken will definitely test Kimbo to see if he belongs in the cage.
If Kimbo can get past Shamrock Ill give him the benefit of the doubt, especially after his last fight against James Thompson. Which should have been a stand up brawl Kimbo was tailor made to win. Kimbo couldn’t put Thompson away how most people thought, with a first round KO. I definitely lost some of my Kimbo hype after that performance.
This will definitely give EliteXC and CBS the ratings they are looking for. As they are riding on Kimbo to keep EliteXC in the mainstream. If Kimbo is victorious against Shamrock this would be big for him. I guess we’ll see if the hard work Kimbo has put in with Bas Rutten will finally pay off. But if Kimbo is to lose to a washed up Shamrock EliteXC could be in some trouble.
